At the beginning of the 20th century, architect Louis Cloquet used this Clinical and Outpatient Institute to realise a long-awaited extension of the Bijloke Hospital, commissioned by Ghent University. Cloquet strived for modernity and total architecture: everything was carefully designed, from the urban scale to the smallest detail.
